As all the FA on our DMX-3 reaches 255 LUN IDs, I am thinking removing some of non-used devices and noticed each FA has 10 2-way mirror mapped (each has only 6MB). What are these devices?
VMware only scans for the first 256 LUNs (0–255). If your SAN zone
contains LUN IDs that are higher than 255, follow the instructions in
the VMware SAN Configuration Guide to change DiskMaxLUN to the value you need (available from http:/www.vmware.com/support/pubs/vi_pubs.html). Make sure to run cos-rescan.sh to make the LUNs available to the VMware Service Console without rebooting the system.
After the zoning being changed on the switch side, the new configuration wont be pushed to ECC server. In this case, we have to “rediscover” the fabric/connectivy” in ECC and re-import the configuration. Otherwise the active zoning would be different from what ECC knows and it will cause problem in masking phase.
After we migrate the ECC from old server to new server and rediscover the storage and monitored devices, we realized the storageScope can not display the historical data before the migration date.
If we get error to acquire locks from ECC when try to create meta devices, a few checks we could do before calling EMC support hotline.
