Peter requested a program to automated data downloading from GIS/BROAD/TGEN sites. Some of the sites use FTP and some use HTTPS. Generally wget can do it pretty well, but our current installation does not have ssl builtin, so I have to install new wget-1.10.1 and openssl-0.9.8. Other features they requried is to get updated when the mirrored site get updates (new file, size change etc). This needs some extra coding.

When the myGRID server is ready, the next step is to prepare the client for end users. One sad thing about Taverna is that the configuation files (by default) are edited locally. To use the new services from additional servers, users have to modify the “mygrid.properties” file manully. This apparently is not acceptable for normal bix people.
Kevin is actively pushing myGRID technology across LSB site. As my presentation last time was successful, we worked hard to introduce and install this package to more users in bix team. Before doing that, I was adviced to move the myGRID server from my linux box to pierce (our dev server).
