Leon lent us four Xserve G5 for testing purpose. The agreement is TLL
offers racks, power, networking and maintaning resources for these
Xserve G5, in exchange to use them for free. Besides of that, we are
also going to use this as a testbed for bioinformatics solution in
Apple’s platform.
The four machines came with some problems. There is no graphic card
even for the head node. Although it is able to install all these Xserve
headless, but all our CDroms can not boot the new Xserve G5 (bug?) and
have to use orignal operating system on harddisk. This caused quite a
lot configuration problems as we are not sure of the original
configuration that comes from hard disk.
Anyway, here is my notes on how to make it finally works.
